Shuttle’s DX30 receives the “Mainstream Recommended Award” from Madshrimps
2017/03/17Global / Award News
The DX30 made by Shuttle Inc., has been granted Mainstream Recommended Award by Madshrimps, a key Tech-news and reviews website. The website started in 2002 with many hardware enthusiasts to provide readers the latest hardware and provide entertainment in the form of PC case modification work logs, overclocking adventures and twisted video-reviews.
Shuttle XPC Slim DX30 is one of the latest Mini-PCs to support Intel® Celeron J3355 Apollo Lake dual-core SoC. “For this new generation, Shuttle has redesigned the chassis and internal aspect of the XPC slim and now sports a more elegant look. Thanks to the technological improvements, the new Intel low power Apollo Lake CPUs can run only on passive cooling, so if we choose to install a SSD abd bit a mechanical 2.5” drive inside the unit, the DX30 will practically be noiseless,” states Stefan, the editor of Madshrimps.

Unlike previous XS35 or XS36 series using plastic chassis design, the DX30 is made with a durable metal chassis that features easy installation of components. It is highly connectable with multiple I/O port, including USB2.0, USB 3.0, PS/2, and native SATA 6Gbps high-speed storage interfaces. The DX30 also provides two RS232 ports (one RS232 and one RS232/RS422/RS485) which both support 0V/5V/12V. Connect with barcode scanners, receipt printers, keypads, and other peripherals. The DX30 is easily configured into peripheral-heavy POS, Kiosk, and Digital Signage systems.
According to the reviewer, “Besides simple 3D applications, we can also run multimedia content in hardware, thanks to the includes acceleration for 4K video encoding/decoding with H.265 and VP9; on HDMI the only limitation in 4K is the refresh rate of just 30Hz, since DX30 does ship with a 1.4b version of the port. If we do choose however to run with the DisplayPort 1.2 video output, we can get 4096x2160 @ 60 Hz without any issues.” The DX30 is capable to deliver 4K/UHD with integrated Intel® HD Graphics; at the rear panel of DX30 provides one HDMI and one DispayPort as well as one optional VGA ports PV01 accessory to support up to triple independent-screen displays.
